Participation Agreement

The Participation Agreement is an agreement between a participant and a worker that outlines the activities in the employment participation plan.  It is a required form used to notify applicants or participants about conditions of eligibility for financial assistance related to participation.  The Participation Agreement is also a review tool used to support the monitoring, cancellation or reduction of assistance, and appeals processes.

Completion of the Application for Assistance, Part 2:  Participation Agreement is a requirement for each Ontario Works applicant or participant, spouse or same-sex partner and dependent adult within a benefit unit, regardless if the participant's requirements have been deferred.  Applicants have the opportunity to propose their own participation plan, including participation in a self-initiated community placement.

The development of a Participation Agreement will begin during the verification interview.  The participant may be referred to an Employment Resource Centre Orientation Session where the applicant and members of his/her benefit unit are informed of local labour market conditions, further acquaints the individual with the range of resources available locally, and is a forum in which to set an initial plan of activity documented in the Participation Agreement.
